With a traditional grab bar bolted into the studs, you can generally trust it for years. No-drill bars, however, require a "maintenance mindset." Suction can fluctuate with changes in temperature and humidity. Adhesive can degrade over time due to the steam from your shower.

A bar rated for 250 lbs is built with much higher-quality materials than one that doesn't list a weight capacity at all. High-quality rubber should feel slightly "tacky" and flexible to the touch.

While we are talking about no-drill options, it is worth mentioning that grab bars on the wall aren't your only choice. For those who find that their bathroom tiles aren't suitable for suction or adhesive, tension-mounted transfer poles are a fantastic alternative.
